LA RASPA is a Mexican dance from VeraCruz/Puebla?, which is similar in form to square dancing except that it has a unique hopping step of its own. It has enjoyed popularity for a number of years as a fun dance at parties.

El Jarabe viene de la palabra Xarab de origen árabe. Se dice que el jarabe es un conjunto de hierbas, así como el jarabe lo es de sones. La música y canto flamenco de España del Siglo XVI, dio origen a la seguidilla machega o seguidilla gitana, así como las playeras, canciones populares de Andalucía, las cuales se derivan en el Siglo XVII y de las cuales de ellas salen las boleras o el bolero del Siglo XVIII.

FOLKLORIC DANCE EXPRESSION IN NAYARIT

When one views the mestizo bailes regionales of the states of Jalisco and Nayarit, one can-not help but notice the similarities. Geographical, historical, and political factors help to explain these similarities. Yet, one also notices the changes and growing differences between the forms. This article addresses some of the causal factors related to the differences.
